Definition of the goal of the project:
We intend to develop a team which would be able to apply the combination of contemporary analytic, numerical and computer methods to the solution of key problems of mathematical theory of continuum mechanics, and thereby obtain new deep results and bring up a new generation of young experts.
Date of the achievement of the goal: December 12, 2010
Results of the project:
New scientific results in the following areas:
- Nonlinear theoretical, numerical and computer analysis of problems of continuum physics;
- Heat-conductive and deforming processes in compressible fluids, incompressible substances of fluid type, and in linearly elastic matters;
- Interaction of the substances;
- Biochemical procedures in substances;
-
Passages between models, dimensional analysis;
The scientific team, based on its knowledge of physical aspects of a model and its analytic properties, is able to propose numerical structures and carry out computer simulations able to solve fundamental problems of a mathematical theory of the continuum mechanics. This scientific team will be gradually extended with young research fellows able to collaborate with experts in other research areas on approaching key problems of the society.
Final form and submission of results:
- Publications in international academic journals, chapters in publications of encyclopedia type and in monographs.
- Presentation of preliminary versions of results in the preprint series of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague, which is available on the corresponding websites.
- Presentation of results by invited lectures at significant international conferences, workshops, mini-courses and lecture courses during research visits abroad.
- Successfully finished diploma and PhD. theses (a successful defense and subsequent publication of the results).
- Original numerical software developed during the solution of the problems.
